40,302,000 People Are Enjoying Their Recovery With Food Stamps

In 2007, Colorado had 106,899 households on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). That number has risen 64 percent--to 176,289 households--as of last year.

There are currently 40 million Americans relying on food stamps for their next meal. That's over 10 percent of the population, and enough hungry mouths that if anything happens to stop the flow of dollars at the beginning of the month, we're going to truly have a problem on our hands.

I've been trying to get the figures from Grand County for a couple of months, but they are terrible at returning phone calls.
