Senator Bennet | Tossing The Political Football

Mike Shedlock (Mish) gets about 1.4 million visitors a month to his financial blog.

Remember a couple days ago, when I posted about our illustrious Senator Bennet and the fact that he'd vote to raise the debt ceiling because he's stupid? Well, Mish seems to think the same thing:

"Last week Senator Michael Bennett of Colorado sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner asking what would happen if the debt ceiling was not raised.

Geithner's
Fear-Mongering Response to Senator Michael Bennettwas quite entertaining. Here are a few select quotes from Geithner:

A default would call into question, for the first time, the full faith and credit of the U. S. government. As a result, investors in the United States and around the world would demand much higher rates, reflecting the increased risk we might default on our obligations again.

A Default would not only increase borrowing costs for the Federal Government. but also for families, businesses, and local governments.

Even a short-term default could cause irrevocable damage to the American economy.
Geithner Drools Over Softball

The letter goes on and on with colorful warnings about double-dip recessions.

The entire setup looks like a staged event. Michael Bennett is a Democrat from Colorado who wants the debt ceiling raised. Purposely or not, Bennett lobbed a softball to Geithner who drooled all over it."

This reminds me of the plant Grand Foundation Chairman Ron Nelson placed in the Denver Post regarding the community funding effort to bail out the school districts. See how this works?

There's no doubt the debt ceiling will be raised this summer. There's also no doubt about the eventual outcome of the insane spending Congress and the White House continue to embark upon.

  1. (sarcasm)The only way to get out of debt is to create more debt, don't you see?(sarcasm/off)

It is all a big game, we have a bunch of corporate criminals running the show. They will stop at nothing to deplete you of all your material worth(spiritual too, but that's another story), they have no borders or national sovereignty.

First you've got to get mad and say, I'm a human being, my life has value.

When are people going to snap out of their apathetic lethargic daze?

The federal reserve is not a part of the federal government, they are a privately owned business. They are listed in the business pages and not the government section in the phone-book. they also do not have any reserves. They operate on a "fractional reserve" system, leveraging every dollar up to 30 to 1 and much more.

  3. @Anonymous... The struggle with central bankers is as old as civilization itself. Human history is littered with references to central banks who brought ruin to the civilizations that gave birth to them. Our Forefathers were aware of the dangers, and warned us. It's not too late to heed their warnings.

  4. Here is what Thomas Jefferson had to say.

What country before ever existed a century & a half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it's natural manure.

  5. @Anonymous... Violence is an absolute last and desperate act when all other recourse has failed. We're at a point where people who have been use to keeping their mouths shut just need to speak up. Stop being afraid of having your opinions judged. I did, and I think it's made all the difference.

If 100 people showed up at a Tuesday Commissioner's meeting in Hot Sulphur springs to speak out peaceably against the water deal, for instance, they wouldn't know what to do with themselves. I've heard the commissioners lament that no one comes to the meetings.

What if 1000 citizens showed up? You don't need a majority. You don't even need much of a minority to cause effective change. You just need people willing to have their voices heard--even if it's just by being present.

Our government operates with impunity because there are so few people actually just SHOWING UP. All of the greatest movements in the world were, at their heart, movements with peace as their guiding principle. We citizens of Grand County have immense power in our numbers. Our strength lies not in our arms but in our resolve.

  6. I agree with you completely Reggie. I should have clarified what I meant after I posted that quote.
I did not mean to convey a message of violence.
The arms are only as a last resort for protection from violence arising as a result of an absolutely tyrannical government.
I meant to convey a message more along the lines of "Patriots unite" and "destroy" tyranny. In this day and age I would like to believe that as a whole we have progressed beyond the use of violence. Unfortunately the people who run things do not think this way. Look at all the useless wars started, all the innocent lives lost, our torture policies, rendition flights, patriot act(it advocates the use of torture), ect... I hope with all my heart that no violence will ever be necessary to affect positive change.
I know we do not face these exact issues here in grand county, but that same corruption is alive and well here. As long as our elected officials continue to represent us and our democratic(two wolves and a sheep voting whats for dinner) process still works we will eventually be able to return to our once great republic/county.?.?? I hope some of this made sense anyway, sorry for rambling.

  7. @Anonymous...Oh there's corruption right here in the county alright. I didn't think you implied violence with your posts... I just wanted to clarify my position. I think there's a lot citizens can accomplish just by being more aware and occasionally more involved.
