Grand Lake Town Manager Calls Out District Leadership

Boy what a difference a couple of months makes. In February, when I penned How To Piss Off A County, I said this about what I saw coming to fruition:

"If I were asked to develop a plan that would most effectively alienate and aggravate the largest number of people in Grand County, I'd be hard pressed to devise a better alternative to what has happened over the last couple of months.
Divide and conquer is a powerful weapon... one which is inadvertently being used to great effect by the leadership of both the East Grand School district, and representatives of the towns and county.
Prepare for school closures, and get ready for the fallout folks."

Here we are, just a few short months later, and the dominoes are beginning to tip furiously. Even though the towns are beginning to properly place blame on the school district's leadership, it should be pointed out that they were forewarned about what the district was up to. They had the ability to know better before they pledged to be a part of this charade, and they too should prepare for the voter fallout sure to ensue.

In a letter to the Sky Hi News, Grand Lake Town Manager Shane Hale has this to say about the school district's decision to close Grand Lake Elementary School:

"Instead of fostering and growing the community good will and working in tandem to identify long-term funding solutions for EGSD, the current approach is to alienate an entire community with broken promises, continue to slash and fix nothing, all in order to shore up a $145,000 deficit. We deserve better."

I wouldn't want to be anywhere on or near the East Grand School District's board or administration. This issue is quickly going to get very ugly before it gets resolved.
